Founded in the Catskill Mountains in 1983 by Dan Leader ’76, Bread Alone is known for their highly acclaimed “from scratch”, artisan breads laminated doughs, muffins, tarts, cookies, and wedding cakes during summer season. They are located outside of Kingston, NY in their recently built, new bakery ($5 million dollar renovation) using all state of the Art bread baking equipment

Highly known for sour doughs and pastry products that are featured in Whole foods, Fairway, Fresh Direct, Trader Joe’s, Kings Supermarkets and fine stores through out the New York area. In addition they run 4 regional bakery cafes and produce more then 130,000 lbs of breads per week –all certified organic.

Dan Leader is well recognized for his efforts in developing the first wholesale artisan bread company in the Hudson Valley; he has authored books, his latest being Local Breads, which is recognized by Martha Stewart as one of the top books of 2007.
