CIA International Studies Grant

This institutional grant is only for students who intend to take either:
(a) the Global Cuisines and Cultures trip, which is for two weeks at the end of a term or
(b) the full semester away international trip, which must be a concentration in Italy, Spain, or Singapore.

In order to be considered for the CIA International Studies Grant, applicants must:

  • Complete the General Application of the $HEF website
  • Answer all required questions of this opportunity and submit
  • The GCC or international semester away trip must count as credits toward the student’s program of study

There is no specific deadline date for this application, but you must complete it prior to the semester in which you intend to take the trip. Each application will be evaluated within 1 month prior to each semester. Eligible recipients will be awarded the grant after they are registered for the trip and the full evaluation is complete.

Contact your Academic Advisor to learn if a trip would be part of your program of study.
Contact your Student Financial Planner to go over cost and potential financial aid.

Note: The CIA International Studies Grant is a one-time award. The full semester trips currently only include the Italian Cuisine Concentration in Puglia Italy, Asian Cuisine Concentration in Singapore, and Mediterranean Cuisine Concentration in Barcelona Spain, no others.

From the Course Catalog:
Students, including international students, who are enrolled in the bachelor’s degree programs and are interested in taking the two-week Global Cuisines and Cultures (GCC) travel course as their free elective or choose to complete a concentration with an international semester-away component can apply for this grant via the $hef site at Amounts may vary and are based primarily on financial need as determined by the FAFSA or, for international students, from the information they provide on the international conditional application via $hef. Funds may only be applied to the GCC course or concentration with international semester away that will count as credits toward a student’s program of study. Students are only eligible for this grant one time, and the grant will be applied to the charges specific to either the GCC course or the concentration with international semester away.
