The outpouring of love, support, and generosity from all corners of the
globe has been nothing short of incredulous, hence the “DRAKE DIAS TRAVEL GRANT”.
In 31 years, Drake lived a life that people dream of and was known for his amazing personality and “joie de vivre” which was contagious. Always smiling….always happy….always plotting his next trip abroad or his next exotic meal, preferably abroad! Drake was fiercely devoted to his family, totally loyal to his friends and compassionate to strangers. Funny and smart, who didn’t want to hang out with Drake and have an adventure?!

How many people have 22 bottles of imported flavored oils and vinegar??!! Most people get a tee shirt when they travel but not Drake, he’d visit every delicacy and grocery store till his bags burst with edible goodies to use in his tiny kitchen. Drake’s love affair with food and travel started in youth. Most of you know Drake wanted to skip graduation (in spite of the distinction earning 2 degrees) and go directly to lunch! Drake not only loved to eat but he started “farm to table” before it became trendy and had an extensive garden of unusual and extrinsic plants and trees, many grown from seed. It would be fair to say that Drake had the closest thing to an “urban farm” that you could have within city limits because he kept all his neighbors stocked with fresh organic eggs from chickens that he nurtured from hatchlings! His exuberance was not simply contained to food, he was a connoisseur of fine spirits and had an extraordinary tea collection which he would savor with his family and closest friends.
