Jay Magazine was a professional chef, entrepreneur, and food industry executive who lost his life on 9-11 while managing a corporate breakfast event at Windows on the World restaurant in the North Tower.
A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Jay’s innovative career as a chef, marketer and business owner included a roster of first-rate and inspired establishments such as Les Pleiades, The Museum Cafe, WPA, Mad61 and Windows on the World.
As a way to honor the legacy and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of this groundbreaking chef, the Jay Magazine Scholarship Fund has been created at The Culinary Institute of America.
The scholarship will identify students of remarkable promise from the New York City metro area who are facing a great financial need, just as Jay faced when he was starting out.
Jay’s family will mentor the scholarship recipients by introducing them to noteworthy restaurants and chefs in NYC throughout the academic year.
It is important to note that the CIA’s overall graduation rate is an impressive 78% in the Associate in Applied Science degree program and 90% in the Bachelor of Professional Studies degree program. Your 100% tax deductible contribution will nurture a young professional.
Donating to the Jay Magazine Scholarship Fund is a wonderful way to turn the tragic end of a truly noteworthy career into a wonderful beginning of hope and promise for an outstanding young student.
