ABOUT THE YONG-SUNG PARK FOOD SAFETY SCHOLARSHIP
The Yong-Sung Park Food Safety Scholarship was established by First Chime LLC in memory of Yong-Sung Park, whose life was tragically cut short after consuming unsafe food. His passing serves as a lasting reminder that culinary professionals carry a responsibility that extends far beyond flavor, presentation, and service.
Yong-Sung Park was also the unsung hero behind Young Park’s entrepreneurial journey. During the establishment of her first culinary business in Seoul, South Korea, his unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in her vision helped lay the foundation for future success. Through this scholarship, First Chime honors Yong-Sung Park’s memory, his contributions to that journey, and the lasting impact he had on the company that would eventually become First Chime. His legacy continues through the education of future culinary professionals and the promotion of food safety as one of the profession’s highest responsibilities.
Created to promote awareness of food safety and responsible culinary practices, the scholarship supports Culinary Institute of America students who demonstrate a commitment to sanitation, safe food handling, professionalism, and the protection of others’ well-being. The scholarship reflects the belief that culinary excellence and food safety are inseparable and seeks to encourage future chefs to lead with discipline, integrity, and accountability.
