Chef Brian Kaywork '02 Legacy Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Hyde Park students who meet the following criteria may apply:

  • Current AOS Culinary Arts student who has completed externship
    OR
    Graduate of AOS Culinary Arts program and now enrolled in a Hyde Park Bachelors degree program
  • 2.75+ GPA
    *No FAFSA required

Preference given to students with a focus on or passion for one of the following areas: Farm to Table Seasonal Cookery, Sustainability, Food Waste, Foraging Wild Edibles, Food & Culinary History, Menus of Change Practices.

This scholarship fund has been generously donated to establish a forever resource to honor and thank Chef Kaywork for being a cherished mentor, for his deeply rooted service to the CIA community, and to help others achieve their dreams.

  1. To be considered for this scholarship, you must be currently in the AOS Culinary Arts program or have graduated from AOS Culinary Arts and are now or will be in a Bachelors program.
  2. Upload a letter of recommendation from one CIA faculty member supporting your exemplary student status. Some examples in this case: punctual, excellent attendance, organized, prepared, adheres to CIA dress codes, exhibits respectful and serious approach to their CIA education, exhibits positive class participation, demonstrates care about helping a group/team to succeed over individual success, good GPA, exhibits perseverance / efforts to achieve tasks despite difficulties, failure or opposition.
  3. Tell us about yourself. In 300-500 words, please include an introduction of yourself, your background, interests, why did you decide to attend the CIA, some thoughts/ideas you are considering for your future career path, why you feel you are an exemplary student or close to it, how would you like to use this scholarship.
