MFK Fisher Endowed Scholarship (Comments and Critiques)

Students meeting the following requirements are encouraged to apply:

  • Class Level: Incoming, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Campus: Hyde Park
  • Program: Any undergraduate program
  • Minimum GPA: Incoming or CIA GPA 2.5+
  • Financial Need: Have financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Additional Note: Preference will be given to students who are interested in some form of food writing in the future. This is not a requirement.

  1. In an essay of 200 to 300 words, please tell us what your primary career goal is and why you have decided to pursue this career.
  2. Please write a 400- to 500-word essay critiquing a restaurant at which you recently dined. Please do not use a restaurant on the CIA campus for your review.
  3. What grade did you receive in the CIA College Writing class? Or, if you have not yet taken that class, what grade did you receive in a high school writing class?
  4. OPTIONAL: How did you first hear of $hef scholarships? Example: Accepted students day, email, social media, friend/parent, a faculty/staff member, etc.
