Federal Work Study - Off Campus Cook - Children's Home

POSITION SUMMARY

The Cook position is an off campus Federal Work Study assignment. As a cook you will be assigned to prepare and serve meals and maintain the kitchen and storage areas for the Children’s Home in Poughkeepsie, according to Health Department and Agency standards. The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie is an organization that provides a full range of Community Based Services and Residential Services giving hope and healing to at-risk children throughout New York State.

Shifts Available: Monday through Friday, Shift #1 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, or Shift #2 from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares and serves meals, maintains kitchen and storage areas for the Children’s Home in Poughkeepsie, according to Health Department and Agency standards.
• Prepares meals and snacks according to menu and instructions.
• Portions food and properly prepares leftovers for storage.
• Prepares take out lunches, special requests, and picnic lunches as needed.
• Maintains kitchen work place and equipment in accordance with Health Department and Agency standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Cleans work areas, including floors, walls, dishes, utensils, and pans as required.
• Performs other kitchen tasks as assigned.
• Complete all other duties as assigned by Professional Staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

• Training provided, no experience needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Reliable transportation to travel to off-site events. (Travel allowance provided)
• Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time as needed.
• Assist in the delivering of items through various buildings and weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift minimum 30 lbs.
